Christian Lacroix was born in Arles in 1951 to a family with a strong taste for sartorial elegance and fashion. From the beginning of his childhood, he dreamed of escaping and travelling to places such as London, Venice and Barcelona. Passionate about art, he began his studies in art history at the Faculty of Arts in Montpelier and the Sorbonne in Paris. He then joined the Ecole du Louvre in order to become a museum curator. Following a meeting with Jacques Picard, the press officer for many luxury brands including Hermès, Guy Paulin and Jean Pato, he returned in 1981 with the great couturier Jean Patou.
Supported by the the world leader in luxury Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy SA, he founded his own fashion house, Christian Lacroix, in 1987. His inspirations are many and varied: Spain, Venice, London, Provence, Cévennes, warm colours, costumes, bohemian, fairy tales ... He mixes stylesto makle his creation all the more original and that allow them to become a reference in the fashion world. Lacroix also receivesd the U.S. award for the most influential creator. Versatile, he puts his creativity to many areas beyond the haute couture collections and ready-to-wear products, stage costumes, a stamp for Valentine's Day, the decoration of a hotel, a new design for the TGV, etc ...
